At its Annual Meeting on May 21, 2014, Abilis presented Food Bank Executive Director Kate Lombardo with its "Outstanding Community Partner" award. In making the presentation, Amy Montimurro, Abilis's Director of Adult Services, remarked:

"It is my pleasure to present Kate Lombardo, Executive Director of The Food Bank in Stamford with the Outstanding Community Partner Award.

"The Food Bank has become lower Fairfield County’s primary hunger-relief organization. They provide food to more than 85 of the non-profit agencies and programs that serve low income people through bags of groceries and congregate meals. These include soup kitchens, food pantries, child care programs, homeless shelters, senior centers, domestic violence safe houses, rehabilitation programs and organizations like Abilis.

"For the past two years, individuals supported by Abilis’ residential supports have benefited from this invaluable organization that consistently ensures people we serve are provided nutritious food. This past year, our Thanksgiving celebrations were complete with all the fixings provided by The Food Bank. Abilis has saved upwards to 40% per year since utilizing their wonderful services.

"We are very grateful for Kate and our relationship with The Food Bank."
